Nice nursery, Kerry. Hardware store to sell plants across the road

Kerry Ochtman is busy setting up the nursery for opening day in Kyogle.

In November last year, Kerry Ochtman said to his boss Pat Harley – “That’d be a good place for a nursery.”

Store manager Kerry was talking about the former Sugarbowl cafe site on the corner of Summerland Way and Stratheden St in Kyogle.

Pat and Kelly Harley have owned the hardware shop on Summerland Way– Harley & Co – for seven years.

They had a section at the front of the shop where they sold plants. It was a limited space that didn’t get much sunshine in the winter.

Kerry is thrilled that the new Harley Mitre 10 Garden Centre has loads of room for compost, potting soil, pots, weed control, garden screens and of course – plants.

There is plenty of sunshine and space.

With three staff, Kerry will manage the nursery which opens on Saturday, July 29.

There is a cafe with seating in the centre of the nursery.

While the nursery will open on July 29, a grand opening is planned some time after that.
