Driver named and charges added after pedestrian dies

The alleged driver of the car that hit two pedestrians in Barker St, Casino on Thursday, April 13 was in Lismore Court on Friday, April 14 to face several charges.

New charges were added after the death of the 74 year old woman who was knocked down. The other woman hit by the car was injured.

The charges against Charles Torrens were listed as:

● Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death

● Dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous

● Aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm

● Cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of a motor vehicle

● Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm– drive manner dangerous

● Drive with high range PCA – 1st offence

● Negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm) – 1st offence

Mr Torrens did not apply for bail.
