Lillian Colless is Richmond Valley’s Citizen Of The Year.
The Casino Australia Day celebrations were held at the Drill Hall park today, Friday, January 26.
Lillian spent most of her life at sea and those experiences shaped her attitude to life.
The first law of the sea is – “always look after those who look after you, because you never know when someone may throw you a line” – Lillian brings that attitude to her leadership and creativity.
Lillian researched the exhibits on the fishing industry, the Black Sand mining industry, the sugar cane industry, and local sporting heroes, including four sculling world champions and the Surf Club.
Lillian dedicates much of her time volunteering at the Evans Head Living Museum.
