Rescue squad runs rings around things that are stuck

Stuck!

Casino VRA Rescue Squad sometimes attends unusual rescues – kittens stuck in cars, calves stuck in the river, dogs stuck in drainpipes and people stuck in swings.

This morning was a different kind of ‘stuck’ that required help from the rescue squad.

Today, Wednesday, April 17 the rescue NSW region operations manager was flagged down as he was driving through Casino at about 8.50am.

The driver who stopped him wanted help for his 13 year old son who had a stainless steel ring stuck firmly on his finger.

The boy had bought the ring online and slipped it on before realising he couldn’t get it off.

His finger had swollen up significantly.

The operations manager called through to the Casino Rescue Squad and told the man and his son to head to the rescue squad headquarters.

The rescue crew used a Dremel rotary tool and some special finger guards managed to remove the ring from the boy’s finger without any injuries.

The boy was taken to Casino Hospital by the family to be checked over.

Unstuck!
